Meet Hazel
I began taking Pilates classes after a 30-year career of dancing and teaching ballet. I immediately fell in love with the Pilates system of exercises and how they worked for my body. After experiencing how Pilates made me feel, I knew that I wanted to become certified so that I could help others to be stronger and healthier as well.
In 2005 I became a certified Pilates Instructor through Romana Kryzanowska’s rigorous Pilates program in New York. I opened the “Classical Pilates” studio and ran it simultaneously with my already established “Classical Kids” ballet school. Running two businesses began to take a toll on my family, so three years later I made the difficult decision to close the ballet school and dedicate my time exclusively to Pilates instruction.
The discipline and experience of my ballet training has helped me immensely as a Pilates instructor and I love sharing my knowledge of Pilates with all my clients, regardless of their abilities. Some are lifelong athletes or dancers, and others have done minimal exercise. My clients with physical challenges have found that Pilates has helped them improve their quality of life. I get so much satisfaction watching my clients getting stronger and more confident in their workout as they master the exercises.
In addition to practicing and teaching Pilates I love to spend time with my two adult children, hike, travel, knit, sew and play with my German Shepherd, Freya, who sometimes assists me in the studio with those clients who enjoy her company. There are also some studio appearances by the puppies that my husband and I raise from time to time for the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, an organization that breeds and trains German Shepherd dogs to become guide dogs for people who are vision impaired.

The Studio
At Classical Pilates, your personal one on one workout is tailored to your individual goals and needs. Whether you want to improve your overall fitness, gain renewed strength after an injury, or take your fitness to a whole new level, Hazel brings her skill, passion and focus to your individual program.
Hazel works closely with each of her clients to define and achieve their fitness objectives. Using authentic Pilates techniques designed by Joseph Pilates, Hazel's instruction emphasizes deep core strengthening with stretching, coordination, control, and balance.
Through one-on-one instruction she works with clients to reshape and re-educate the body, create long, lean muscles, strong flexible joints, improve posture and relieve stress - helping her students reap the benefits of this brilliant technique for improving both body and mind.
The Classical Pilates studio is fully equipped with Gratz apparatus designed by Joseph Pilates to support his program including the reformer, cadillac, baby chair, pedi-pole, high chair, wunda chair and small barrel.
